Visit to the Sterling Hill Mine

Saturday, July 1st
10:30 Meet up at picnic snack outside - Bring your own food and drink
11:00 promptly - Tour starts of Mine, Museum, and Rock Discovery activity
2:00 - End of tour
– optional picnic time - bring your own food and drink.

$12 for scouts/kids - Mine, Museum and Rock Discovery.
$11 for adults - Mine and museum, only.

 

A Sign-up Genius has been sent out (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b4babaf29a3f58-sterling). please sign up so we can get an accurate head count so the Mines can provide the appropriate number of guides. Ellen Kiyler will be collecting payments Friday, June 16th at the Pack Meeting/Advancement Ceremony.

 

Please note that regardless of the weather or season it is a cool 56° inthe mine, so make sure each visitor brings a light jacket or sweater, even in summer.

There is plenty of free bus parking available.

There is indoor and outdoor sheltered picnic tables, modern restroom facilities, a snack bar, and Gift Shop!

The mine is encouraging all to bring your lunch, drinks and snacks if possible. The mines will be extra busy this weekend, and you don't want to spend all you time waiting on-line!

 

From the Philadelphia-Camden-Trenton area:

Proceed north on the NJ Turnpike (I-95) approaching Newark. Take exit 15W onto I-280 West. Proceed through Newark on I-280 West, bearing left as it merges with I-80 West. Follow I-80 West past Denville to exit 34B for Route 15 North. Take Route 15 to the second Sparta exit (Franklin-Sparta exit) for Route 517 North. Follow Route 517 for 2.6 miles to Ogdensburg. In Ogdensburg, at Brooks Flat Road, is a brown sign for the Sterling Hill Mining Museum on the left (west) side of the road; turn left here. Proceed down the hill for 0.4 mile and turn right on Plant Street. Follow Plant St. 0.9 mile to the Stop sign and turn left, then immediately left again into the Sterling Hill Mining Museum entrance.
